SAP GRC AC - frequently asked questions

Our consultants have put together a comprehensive list of common enquiries and responses to SAP security issues to help with basic troubleshooting and simple problem solving. The FAQs also provide useful background data to IT administrators about to start an SAP initiative.

If you have a question which is not listed here, please use the Ask the Experts form to submit a question. Your inquiry will be addressed by one of our consultants as promptly as possible.

The UME is the User Management Engine within a Java system. In the same way as in any other Java System, the UME controls the user and their authorisations for the GRC component. You can define the roles and authorised "actions" within this application and assign these directly to users of the tool.

If integrating GRC with a Portal, you can use the same UME to operate for both application components.

The UME also acts as a data source for the GRC application components and can be used to define user master details for use when configuring the applications. An example of this is for the user's authentication for requesting access via CUP or to look up the users' email addresses. It is also used for assignments of approvers in the CUP workflow configuration.
