Turnkey helps Hong Kong power supplier* with SAP security review and LDAP prototype

A leading power supplier in the Hong Kong region turned to Turnkey Consulting when they needed a comprehensive review of their current SAP security and SAP portal solutions. Turnkey was charged with leveraging its extensive expertise to thoroughly evaluate the environment, identify weaknesses, and recommend potential enhancements.

The scope of the project included a complete assessment of existing and ongoing SAP security implementations, to uncover inefficiencies and determine the best ways to correct them, as well as the design, development, and delivery of:

• A user administration prototype that seamlessly integrated SAP LDAP with Microsoft Active Directory Services (ADS) and Central User Administration (CUA) across the company’s SAP landscape
• A prototype of SAP user role menus to be displayed through the SAP Portal via the SAP R/3 unification server

The result of the one month long engagement was a comprehensive report, delivered to senior management, which offered detailed and specific recommendations regarding SAP Portal role design and user administration. These suggestions were then incorporated into the company’s planned enterprise R/3 upgrade project.

The organisation expects to realise a significant reduction in user administration costs, while providing SAP Portal users with an improved experience.
