Implementation of SAP Portal Security for one of the world's largest oil manufacturers*

The UK and Australian branches of Turnkey Consulting helped the HR department of this large oil manufacturer to implement a secure custom SAP Self-service Portal.

The brief was to allow employees to perform simulations of various salary-packaging scenarios, via self-service, without giving them inappropriate system access. A key objective of the project was to ensure that the functionality was enabled through the portal without giving users inappropriate access in the backend system. A solution that was consistent with the client’s long-term identity management vision to use a single userID throughout the organization was also important.

Combining our extensive SAP Security and SAP Enterprise Portal experience enabled Turnkey consulting to meet the significant technical challenges presented by this implementation.

Through consulting with the HR business and the Portal technical team our consultants were able to enhance the existing HR Self-service roles to enable this new functionality without giving wider access in the backend system than users already had.

The result was a solution that enabled the client’s business requirements without compromising security.
