Upgrade of SAP HR Security for one of the world's largest oil manufacturers*

The UK and Australian branches of Turnkey Consulting assisted the HR department of this large oil manufacturer in the upgrade of their SAP R/3 HR 4.6 security to SAP HCM ECC 6.0.

Having successfully supported security for the Global rollout of SAP HR to over 50 countries Turnkey Consulting were re-engaged by the client to upgrade the HR module security to ECC 6.0. We were chosen for this project because of our extensive knowledge of SAP HR security and our understanding of the various local Data Privacy requirements that the client’s security requirements were designed to meet.

The upgrade also involved the performance optimisation of the client’s structural authorisations solution. This was particularly challenging given the large volume of users involved (over 100,000) and the extensive usage that the client made of structural authorisations in their security solution.

Also included in the scope was the development of security solutions for a number of functional upgrades including the implementation of the Enterprise Compensation Management module.

Our consultants were able to leverage our experience of completing similar projects to ensure a smooth transition of the security solution to ECC 6.0. Our experience in developing structural authorisation solutions enabled us to recommend and implement a number of improvements to the existing solution, resulting in significant performance improvements.

Working in a truly global team we were also able to leverage on our own global team to offer the client additional time zone coverage during critical stages of the project.

The end result was a seamless security upgrade with minimal disruption to end users’ access and significant performance improvements.
